Résumé :
As time passes by, cultural practices evolve. In this context, the inadequacy of some cultural practices meets the resistance of the younger generation. This research work aims to examine how the younger generation’s resistance to some cultural practices coupled with immaturity in handling situations due to ignorance can bring about irreversible outcomes, on the society out here as in W. T. Ngugi’s The Black Hermit. The paper uses cultural theory which scrutinises the corpus in its socio-cultural environment and considers the cultural meanings’ creation by human beings. It is based on content analysis as methodological approach. The study has concluded that there is a necessity to synthetise cultures so as to adopt the most adequate one to each epoch with regard to that one which has to put one’s own cultural practices at the corner stone. It has also concluded that youth immaturity and the lack of wisdom in handling situations and making decisions regardless of their peaceful impact on the society is a big challenge in peace-making. Key words: alienation, cultural practices, immaturity, multiculturalism, self-destruction.
