Résumé

John Osborne’s Look Back in Anger powerfully showcases the societal fissures that traumatize humanity and, British society is not an exception. The play delves into seemingly ordinary disputes that, through their persistent nature, have become the Gordian knot of genuine human connection and daily interactions. The paper aims to illuminate the destructive consequences of relationships fuelled by hypocrisy, sustained by greed, and ultimately expanded by subtle, methodical treachery. Through a sociocritical lens, an examination of these themes reveals that biased human relationships inevitably lead to chaos. Consecutively, the disintegration of Jimmy’s family unit serves as a poignant example, ultimately paving the way for the couple’s separation.
